Classes

Please note that as of May 2022, Fab Lab Tulsa has opened its newly constructed lab facility:  Hardesty Hub for Makers.  Available membership plans and plan features will be initially limited but gradually expanded as additional machinery and rooms are activated over the course of 2022.  We appreciate your understanding as we work diligently to make our full lab capabilities available to the Tulsa community. View Fab Lab Tulsa's Equipment Page to see its available fabrication machinery per room.

Overview

Fab Lab Tulsa offers classes covering the fundamental workflow and operation of its digital fabrication machinery as well details covering tips and techniques.

Participation in classes (video / in-person) is a pre-requisite for all members prior to using and booking Fab Lab Tulsa machinery.

Important features of Fab Lab Tulsa classes are listed below:

  • Curriculum:  Membership plan features and machinery listed within each plan determine which classes are available/relevant to specific members    Class labels use G, T, and M prefixes to designate those relevant to Gateway, Tinker, and Maker membership contracts respectively.  Maker membership contract holders may take all M, T, and G series classes, Tinker membership contract holders may take T and G series classes, and Gateway membership contract holders may take G series classes.
  • Prerequisites:  Members will be unable to book online appointments on Fab Lab Tulsa machinery until they attend/view classes.
  • Format Options:  Classes will be offered in either a video or in-person format but not both.  Video classes are not available for all machines.  The Gateway membership plan includes only video instruction while Tinker and Maker plans include classes in both video and in-person formats.
  • Fees:  Classes do not have additional fees associated with them.
  • Video Access:  Video classes are available through Fab Lab Tulsa's Member Portal under the Video Access tab.  Video classes cover select, simpler machinery only.
  • In-Person Classes:  In-person classes are held at Fab Lab Tulsa's Hardesty Hub for Makers facility and cover more complex machines not suited for video instruction.  In-person classes may extended into multiple sessions across multiple dates depending on the complexity of the subject being covered. In-person classes are listed under the Classes tab within Fab Lab Tulsa's member portal.
  • Sessions & Appointments:  Class participation does not affect an active membership contract's available sessions / appointment limit
  • Prospective Members:  Prospective members may sample video classes and participate in in-person classes prior to joining the lab through the purchase of a membership contract.  Prospective members have up to 7 days from selecting their $0 class package and attending or viewing a class to purchase a membership contract.
