JunkBots - Session 1
CAMP DESCRIPTION: Looking for a hands-on experience that builds confidence, creativity, and real‑world skills? Our One-Day Woodworking Adventure gives kids ages 8–14 a rare opportunity to explore Fab Lab Tulsa’s Wood Lab and learn the fundamentals of woodworking in a safe, guided environment. During this high‑energy morning session, young makers will get comfortable using real tools—such as hand saws, hammers, drills, sanders, and screwdrivers—while learning proper safety practices every step of the way. With support from experienced instructors, kids won’t just follow a template; they’ll tap into their own imagination. Campers will design and build a custom wood‑block character, choosing their own shapes, attachments, and details. This free‑form sculpture project encourages creativity, problem‑solving, and hands-on exploration as they turn simple materials into a unique piece, they’ll be proud to take home. As one of only two camps that opens full access to the Wood Lab, this session gives kids a rare chance to truly “own the shop” for a day. Expect lots of learning, lots of laughter, and a whole morning packed with mini builds, new skills, and sawdust-filled fun.
